A number of upgrades and improvements are being sought by the Sedalia School District 200 over the next year, with the district preparing to solicit bids for the projects.

The district’s board of education voted Monday, Oct. 27 to go forward with their list of projects for the next calendar year, with an anticipated price tag of $1.3 million. Superintendent Dr Todd Fraley says the list of projects were finalized during a work session last month.

The board also approved plans for the addition of two parking lots at Smith-Cotton High School, one behind the gymnasium and the other along the entrance to campus from Sacajawea Road.

Sedalia’s School Board also approved a change order totaling $10,677.84 for work at the district’s future central offices at 1700 Lafayette, and authorized an application for a land and water conservation fund grant that would go toward improving a practice field at Smith-Cotton Junior High. A proposal to establish an orchestra program for fifth graders at Sedalia Middle School was postponed to the board’s next meeting, scheduled for Nov. 17 in the Smith-Cotton High School Commons.
