The Marshall Municipal Utilities Board of Public Works approved a motion to continue its tree trimming and brush spraying contract during its meeting on Wednesday, October 29.

The is the third year of a three-year contract with Poor Boy Tree Service. MMU plans to continue concentrating on trimming and removing trees on three-phase and single-phase distribution lines along streets and single-phase lines in backyard easements. MMU also plans to focus on areas that need to be sprayed along distribution and transmission rights-of way, which are difficult to access and mow.

The Board of Public Works voted to approve the contract for Fiscal Year 2025/2026.

In other news, the board approved a change order request from Beerman Heating and Cooling for the Recycle Center project. MMU approved a bid from Beerman to replace the Recycle Centers heating boiler system in September. The change order totals $4,411.70 for additional parts and labor for the project.

The board’s next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, November 12.
