A Holden woman has pleaded not guilty to charges that she broke into a home last week and assaulted two people.
A probable cause statement from Holden Police accuses 33-year-old Mia Kalika Martinez of breaking a glass storm door at the front of a home in Holden on Friday, Oct. 24, where she had been shouting with her boyfriend outside. One of the victims went to check on the two, before Martinez allegedly charged at them. Police say both victims were inside when Martinez struck the door, with the impact causing injury to one of the residents. The two victims retreated to a bedroom and closed the door, where Martinez is said to have attempted to kick it open. That’s where officers say they discovered Martinez, placing her under arrest. As she was being taken out of the house, Martinez allegedly spit in the face of one of the victims.
Prosecutors in Johnson County have charged Martinez with first-degree burglary, third-degree assault, and resisting arrest, along with misdemeanor charges of fourth-degree assault and property damage. Her bond is set at $10,000 cash only, with her next court appearance scheduled for Wednesday afternoon.
