
Both Missouri Valley Viking soccer teams posted shutouts over Missouri Baptist on senior night Tuesday, Oct. 28, with the fifth-ranked women prevailing 3-0 and the men 2-0.
Ashley Arribas continued her scoring form with her opening goal in the 14th minute, sending her shot over the keeper’s head. Judit Ferre provided the assist, then scored goals of her own in the 23rd and 41st minutes. Valley’s defense was solid, keeping Missouri Baptist from registering any shots on goal, allowing keepers Marina Barbara Bujulance and Lola Martinez Benitez to share the clean sheet. The Vikings recorded 21 shots and earned three corner kicks in the contest, which saw Missouri Valley stay unbeaten on the season with a 12-0-4 overall record and 10-0-2 in Heart of America Conference play.
The men’s game was scoreless at the half, despite Valley outshooting Missouri Baptist 6-2. Spartan keeper Evan Baisch recorded five saves in the first half. The Vikings would finally send one past him in the 60th minute, when Julius Kruger and Jacob Adams set up Bartomeu Trias’ goal. Davor Marinkovic added insurance 15 minutes later. Vicente Benitez Delgado recorded two saves in the contest. The men’s record improved to 7-6-3 overall and 5-5-2 in the conference.
Both teams close out the regular season Saturday at Baker, with the women kicking off at 5 p.m., followed by the men’s game at 7:30 p.m.
