The Marshall Police Department arrested three individuals after conducting alcohol and tobacco compliance checks for establishments holding city-issued licenses on Wednesday, October 29.
These compliance checks are part of the City of Marshall’s continued efforts to prevent problems related to underage alcohol consumption, curb alcohol abuse, and reduce operating under the influence incidents involving teenagers.
During the compliance checks, underage operatives working under the supervision of the Marshall Police Department attempted to purchase alcohol/tobacco to determine whether establishments are properly verifying age and identification before service. This proactive effort is part of the department’s ongoing commitment to reducing underage drinking, underage use of tobacco/vape products, and promoting public safety in the community.
As a result, police arrested three individuals at three difference establishments. Per KMMO policy, the names of these individuals will not be released until formal charges are filed.
Marshall Police says these checks are not meant to trick retailers but rather to serve as a reminder of their legal responsibility to verify the age of all customers purchasing alcohol.
