
Deer in the roadway caused a pair of accidents in Johnson County overnight, with a person in each collision suffering moderate injury according to troopers.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol first responded around 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 30 to the crash of a pickup along Route 23 at Northeast 901 Road, just outside Knob Noster. According to troopers, a deer crossed into the path of the southbound pickup that a 20-year-old Knob Noster man was driving. The vehicle began to skid, ultimately striking the deer. The driver was taken to a nearby hospital.
Troopers then responded to a crash reported around 1:10 a.m. Friday in the eastbound lanes of U.S. Route 50 east of Route 58. The Patrol reports that multiple deer entered the roadway, in front of an SUV driven by a 30-year-old man from Versailles, with the SUV colliding with one of the deer. The driver had no reported injuries; however, a 30-year-old woman in the vehicle from Eldon needed treatment at a nearby hospital.
