A Higginsville native is this year’s winner of the Agricultural Education proficiency award at the National FFA Convention.
Lynn Dyer received the honor on stage at convention in Indianapolis on Thursday, Oct. 30. The Lafayette County High School graduate was recognized for her work with schools and Missouri FFA to educate students about agriculture, facilitating activities and planning training days around the state. Dyer was a teen leader for the Ag Innovators Experience, allowing her to get hands-on experience and develop problem solving skills, and remains active with Ag Education on the Move through Missouri Farmers Care.
Her advisers with the Higginsville FFA Chapter are Adam Brock and Courtney Chaney. Dyer is pursuing a degree in agriculture education at Northwest Missouri State University, with plans to become a high school ag teacher.
She was one of two national proficiency award winners from Missouri announced Thursday. Chase Hall of Clarksville, representing the Clopton FFA Chapter, won top honors in the agricultural services proficiency award for the development of his drone spraying business. The 98th National FFA Convention continues in Indianapolis through Saturday.
