A Unionville man incurred serious injury Thursday, Oct. 30 after losing control of his motorcycle on a Linn County highway during a high-speed chase.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says they were in pursuit of a 41-year-old man on his motorcycle along U.S. Route 36 on Thursday afternoon. Troopers say at around 5:10 p.m., as the bike was traveling through the intersection with Route F about three miles east of Brookfield, the motorcycle went off the left side of the roadway and went airborne. The man suffered serious injuries and was taken to a Columbia hospital. Troopers add the man was not wearing the proper safety equipment at the time of the crash.

An arrest report from the Patrol indicates that several charges against the man are being sought in Linn County, including driving while revoked, aggravated fleeing, speeding at least 26 miles per hour above the speed limit, and failure to display valid plates. Per KMMO policy, the names of any individuals facing charges are not released until formal charges are filed.
