
Three area volleyball teams are one step closer to the St Joseph Civic Center after sectional meets Thursday, Oct. 30 in Classes One, Two and Three.
In Class One, District 14 champion Crest Ridge went on the road and posted a convincing 3-0 victory at Osceola, defeating the Indians, 25-18, 25-15 and 25-23. The Cougars advance to Saturday’s quarterfinals where they’ll be at home versus Northland Christian, a 3-0 winner in their match with Rock Port.
Class Two saw District 14 titlist Lafayette County win at home in their sectional as the Huskers defeated West Platte in three, 26-24, 25-18 and 25-16. The Huskers now go on the road and play at East Buchanan on Saturday, after the Bulldogs claimed a 3-1 sectional win at Lawson, defeating the Cardinals, 20-25, 25-15, 25-19 and 26-24.
In Class Three, MRVC West Conference champion Oak Grove remains undefeated on the season, winning all three sets in their contest against Savannah, 25-21, 25-17 and 25-14. The Oak Grove girls will advance to Saturday’s quarterfinals as they travel to Nevada, a 3-2 sectional-round winner over Summit Christian. Also in Class Three, Helias Catholic won easily Thursday, in 3-0 fashion at Hallsville, rolling past the Indians, 25-16, 25-7 and 25-12. The Helias girls now play in the quarterfinals Saturday at Winfield, who beat St Louis MICDS, 3-0 in their sectional.
