A Marshall man is facing charges for a reported burglary at a Missouri Valley College maintenance building in September.

Police report the building was broken into on September 16, 2025, with some tools reported stolen. A witness told authorities that the subject broke into the building at 1 a.m. The items stolen included a cable cutter, a knockout kit, and a propane heater. The subject also allegedly damaged a server switch worth about $800.

Police were able to review security video footage and identified the subject at Matthew Coke. The Marshall Police Department made contact with Coke on Sunday, November 2, and placed him under arrest. Coke resisted arrest, attempting to pull away from the officers while taking him into custody.

Coke has been charged with felonies for burglary in the second degree, stealing $750 or more, property damage in the first degree, and resisting arrest. Bond has been set at $15,000 cash only.

No court appearances have been set at this time.
