The Carrollton Town Council voted to make their annual contribution to the county’s University of Missouri Extension office.
Mayor Keith Higgins tells KMMO News that at their Monday, Nov. 3 meeting, the council received the budget request from Extension representative Chelsea Corkins. The request for $5500 was approved, steady with the same contribution made last year. The council also accepted the bid from BTC Bank for certificate of deposit services, allowing the city to deposit $1 million for the next 24 months at an annual percentage rate of 3.8 percent.
Also Monday night, the council codified in ordinance a conditional use permit they had approved at the previous meeting for a short-term rental on the 200 block of North Virginia. Two other proposed ordinances remained on the table after discussion. Higgins says council members continue to seek changes to the wording on ordinances concerning temporary housing and the boarding up of buildings.
During his report, Higgins announced that the Missouri Department of Natural Resources had approved Carrollton’s application for a grant totaling $42,800. The grant will fund the purchase of 39 picnic tables made from recycled materials.
