Sheriff’s departments in two counties are conducting investigations into employees at a pair of area cities.
The City of Windsor announced Monday, Nov. 3 that their board of aldermen had received reports suggesting potential employee misconduct. Their statement went on to say that the city, “remains committed to protecting the public, safeguarding public property and funds, and maintaining the trust placed in it by its citizens.” The city also confirmed receipt of a subpoena for certain records relating to city payment accounts and usage. Aldermen have requested an independent investigation from the Bates County Sheriff’s Office. Windsor is primarily in Henry County, whose sheriff’s office handles law enforcement duties on behalf of the city. Henry County Sheriff Aaron Brown confirmed the handoff of Windsor’s request to Bates County in a brief statement Tuesday afternoon.
Also Tuesday afternoon, the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office announced a criminal investigation into possible employee misconduct at the City of Holden. The investigation came at the request of Holden Police Chief David Mayhew. The sheriff’s office says that the city is fully cooperating with the investigation. No further details were made available, as the investigation is ongoing. It’s not known if the two investigations are related.
