Area residents who sustained damage to their primary residence or personal property due to the tornado earlier this year can receive assistance at a Disaster Recovery Center opening in Cooper County on Thursday.

Disaster Recovery Centers (DRCs) will be open from November 6-8 in Cooper, Dunklin, Oregon, Reynolds, Stoddard, and Vernon counties to assist Missourians who sustained damage to their primary residence or personal property due to the severe storms, straight-line winds, tornadoes, and flooding that occurred March 30 through April 8, 2025.

Cooper County’s DRC will operate from the Pilot Grove Community Center, located at 300 Progress Avenue. The DRC will be open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday, and from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.

At a DRC, affected individuals can get help applying for disaster assistance, speak to state or federal representatives, receive updates on their FEMA application, and more. Additional DRC openings will be announced as those locations are identified.

Residents will need to bring a general list of damages, a current phone number and email address, your Social Security number, banking information for direct deposit, receipts for disaster related items purchased, and the insurance policy number or the agent and company information.

FEMA financial assistance may include money for basic home repairs, personal property losses or other underinsured/uninsured, disaster-related needs such as childcare, transportation, medical needs, funeral, or dental expenses.

Residents can also apply for FEMA assistance calling the FEMA Helpline at 800-621-3362, or by visiting here.
