The Moberly City Council authorized the purchase of new equipment for the city’s Police Department using grant funding from the Governor’s Missouri Blue Shield Program.
The Moberly Police Department was awarded at $50,000 Blue Shield Grant, and requested approval from the city council during its November 3 meeting to purchase the equipment. Community Relations Manager Scott McGarvey says the grant will help pay for crime barrier screens, SWAT communication headsets, SWAT helmets, a digital evidence processor, and a digital electronic ticketing system.
The Blue Shield Grant will cover $19,293.40 of the digital electronic ticket system. The city also received a $42,000 grant from the Missouri Department of Transportation to fund the remaining cost of the system.
The Moberly City Council will next meet on Monday, November 17.
