The Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) recently released its 2025 Annual Performance Report (APR) Scores, with the Northwestern R-1 School District ranking in the top ten for K-12 public schools statewide.
Northwestern R-1 received a score of 95.2 percent (A) for the 2024-2025 school year, which ranked eighth overall out of 445 K-12 public schools in Missouri. Superintendent Tyler Clark says the district is excited about the recognition.
This is the 2nd year in a row that the school has received an A rating (92.8% for 2023-24) for the APR. The district has shown significant improvement from the 2021-22 and 2022-2023 school years, when the district received C ratings (76.7 percent in 2021-22 and 75.9 percent in 2022-23). Clark credits all the students, parents, and staff for working together to achieve this improvement.
Missouri’s APR is part of the state’s school improvement and accountability system (MSIP 6) used to evaluate school and district performance. It uses multiple indicators like academic achievement, attendance, graduation rates and school readiness to provide a comprehensive score used for accreditation classifications.
