The City of Sedalia is reporting a water main break in the southern part of the city.

In a statement, the city says the main broke the morning of Thursday, Nov. 6 between West 32nd Street and Elm Hills Boulevard during routine fire hydrant inspections and flushing. City officials say that because the location was on a dead-end line, all customers south of the break are without water until repairs are complete. Water department crews are on site working to make the repairs.

KMMO News understands that the outage includes Smith-Cotton High School and Loftus Early Childhood Center, whose classes are cancelled the afternoon of Thursday, Nov. 6, 2025. A spokesperson for the district adds that the boys soccer district championship match between Rock Bridge and Blue Springs South will take place as scheduled Thursday at 6 p.m. at the Smith-Cotton Athletics Complex.
