High school seniors set to graduate this spring have the opportunity to submit their applications for the Youth in Agriculture Scholarship from the Missouri State Fair.

The Youth in Agriculture scholarship is available for Missouri high school seniors who are active in Missouri 4-H or their school’s FFA chapter, and have participated at the Missouri State Fair at least once as a 4-H or FFA Exhibitor. The scholarships are funded through proceeds from the annual Missouri State Fair Sale of Champions and Best of Missouri Sale, along with sponsors of the Youth in Agriculture program.

Last year, 63 scholarships were awarded totaling $121,250, the largest amount in the program’s 32-year history. This year, each student selected will receive a $1500 scholarship. Seven students will receive larger scholarships: the Wayne Yokley Platinum Scholarship worth $5000, the Sharon Topliff Scholarship worth $3500, and five different supreme scholarships worth $2500.

Scholarship recipients must enroll in an accredited community college, technical or trade school, college or university in the fall or spring semester immediately following graduation from high school. Applications are available on the Missouri State Fair’s website, with a deadline of Jan. 15. Selected students will received recognition at the Missouri FFA Convention in April and during next August’s Sale of Champions.
