The City of Huntsville is currently working on a project to upgrade its wastewater treatment system, with the first phase of the project already underway.

Huntsville Mayor Frank Miller says phase one of the project includes repairing and testing old sewer lines with the city’s sewer system.

Miller said crews have already gotten started on work before the start of winter. He says the upgrades will help the city meet government standards and provide a better system for its citizens.

The city recently received a $1.3 million low-interest loan and a $1.8 million grant through the Missouri Department of Natural Resources’ Clean Water State Revolving Fund.
