A second bridge on a highway southeast of Salisbury will close later this month for replacement as part of the Northwest Bridge Bundle.

The Missouri Department of Transportation says the Chariton River Overflow Bridge for Route PP will close Nov. 17 for its replacement. The overflow bridge was built in 1959 and handles about 426 vehicles per day. The roadway has been closed since June, when the bridge over the Middle Fork Chariton River a half-mile to the east failed inspection. The project to replace that span is underway. Both new bridges are expected to open to traffic by March.

Both bridges are among 12 in Chariton County and 31 across North Central Missouri that are being replaced or rehabilitated as part of the Northwest Bridge Bundle. A third bridge in the county, Route KK over the Puzzle Creek outside Keytesville, will close Monday, Nov. 10 for its replacement. This bridge is also expected to be completed by March.

A list of the bridges in the Northwest Bridge Bundle, along with a progress tracker on each one, is posted on MoDOT’s website.
