A temporary structure is going in place in front of two damaged buildings along Sedalia’s West Main Street, with the aim to reopen the street to two-way traffic this week.

City crews will install reinforced concrete retaining blocks and safety fencing in front of 207 and 209 West Main, allowing both directions of traffic to reopen. The move comes as the Board of Appeals voted Oct. 22 to give the buildings’ owners 60 days to complete repairs or move forward with demolition. City administrator Matthew Wirt…

Sedalia’s efforts to deal with the two buildings come as they are once again on the look for a community development director, following the announced departure of Bryan Kopp. Wirt says Kopp is pursuing a new opportunity, while the city begins the process of finding his replacement.

Wirt says the City of Sedalia is accepting applications for both positions on the city’s website.
