Troopers with the Missouri State Highway Patrol say that equipment failure caused a truck to run off a Chariton County highway Wednesday, Nov. 12, resulting in injury to a Brunswick boy.

The Patrol reports that the International truck was driving along U.S. Route 24 about two miles west of Keytesville, when at about 4:15 p.m., the truck experienced the equipment failure. That caused the vehicle to go off the right side of the roadway. Damage to the truck was considered total by troopers. The 51-year-old driver from Dalton had no reported injuries. However, an 11-year-old in the cab suffered moderate injury and was taken to a Columbia hospital. Both the boy and the driver were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
