The November portion of the firearms deer season begins this weekend and some new provisions have been put in place by the Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC).
The season begins Saturday, November 15, and runs through Tuesday, November 25. For the second straight year, Saline County is included in the Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) Management Zone, which requires hunters to take their deer to their county’s sampling station. MDC county agent Chase Wright spoke to KMMO News about Saline County’s sampling station and a new regulation regarding telechecking.
Sampling is mandatory throughout the opening weekend of the season. Saline County is one of 35 Missouri counties in the CWD Management Zone, along with Carroll, Chariton, Howard, and Randolph in the KMMO listening area.
Wright also highlighted a big change for the youth hunting season.
Wright encourages all hunters to be safe and to get in contact with their county’s agent if they have any questions. Additional details and reminders for hunters are available on the Missouri Department of Conservation website.
