An Odessa couple has been sentenced in connection with incident earlier this year in which one of their children was exposed to fentanyl and stopped breathing.

Lafayette County Prosecuting Attorney Kristen Hilbrenner announced that William Ellingworth and Krystal Harris were sentenced in connection with the incident on February 19, 2025. A subsequent search of the home uncovered a trafficking quantity of fentanyl in the possession of Ellingworth.

Ellingworth pled guilty to Trafficking in Drugs in the Second Degree and Abuse or Neglect of a Child on July. He has been sentenced to ten years and seven years respectively in the Missouri Department of Corrections. Harris pled guilty to three counts of Abuse or Neglect of a Child on November 3.
