A Smith-Cotton diver has picked up eighth-place honors at the MSHSAA State Swim & Dive championships in St Peters.

Xadrian McGruder advanced to the finals in one meter diving with a two-round score of 244.20, then maintained his pace with a final score of 337.15, earning the Tigers 11 team points in the Class One standings. Another Smith-Cotton swimmer, Aiden Scholl, will compete in two consolation finals Friday, Nov. 14: the 100-yard backstroke and 50-yard freestyle.

Meanwhile, Jacob Leavitt of Marshall remains in contention for an individual state title, as he’ll compete in the 50-yard freestyle championship final. Leavitt will swim in lane eight after qualifying for the final with a time of 22.07 seconds.
