The Warrensburg Police Department has released the name of the suspect believed to have killed his neighbor who attempted to intervene in a domestic disturbance, before turning the gun on himself.

Police say the gunman behind the Wednesday, Nov. 12 incident on the 700 block of Cedar Drive was Glyzua Ingram, who was an airman assigned to Whiteman Air Force Base. According to law enforcement, Guzman and a woman were in an argument that turned violent, resulting in injury to the woman; however, police note that her injuries were not caused by gunfire, and she was treated at and released from a nearby hospital.

Police went on to say that during the incident, an unarmed neighbor identified as 39-year-old Tony Barron attempted to intervene. That’s when Ingram is believed to have shot Barron, who died from his injuries. Police then arrived on the scene and were fired at by Ingram, but officers did not return fire. Authorities then discovered Ingram dead in a nearby wooded area an hour later, which officers say was caused by a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Officers stressed that Barron and Ingram were the only two people who sustained gunshot wounds.

In a social media post late Wednesday, Warrensburg Mayor Bruce Uhler extended his condolences to Barron’s family and friends, and thanked the Army veteran for his, “lifesaving act of bravery and heroism.”

Uhler and city officials have launched a GoFundMe to provide support to Barron’s family.
