
Longtime sports broadcaster and Marshall native Art Hains reflected on his storied career during the premier of Voice Unbroken on Thursday, November 13.
Hains recently retired as voice of the Missouri State Bears, signing off in September 2025 after more than 40 years of service. Hains was also involved with the Kansas City Chiefs Radio Network, serving as the studio host for about 16 years before stepping down in 2025. Hains spoke about his decision to retire.
Voice Unbroken premiered at the Marshall Cinema Thursday night to a crowd eager to learn more about Art’s career, from his time at Southern Methodist University in Dallas to his time as the voice of the Bears in Springfield. Hains contracted West Nile Virus in September 2022, facing numerous health complications, including paralysis. Hains credits his faith and positive attitude for carrying him forward.
Hains has been recognized in the Springfield Area Sports Hall of Fame (2003), the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame (2017), and the Missouri State University Athletics Hall of Fame (2022).
