Ahmad Hardy ran all over Mississippi State, rushing for 300 yards and three scores to guide the Missouri Tigers to a 49-27 win on Saturday, November 15.
Mizzou’s offense got off to a good start, with the Tigers scoring touchdowns on both drives in the first quarter. Both drives were capped off by touchdown passes from Matt Zollers, including a 26-yard pass to Donovan Olugbode and a 34-yard pass to Joshua Manning.
Zollers threw an interception in the second quarter, but the Tiger defense forced a fumble as the Bulldogs were driving in the redzone, with Toriano Pride Jr. returning the fumble for 62 yards to set up the Tigers at Mississippi State 23.
Several plays later, Hardy would score his first touchdown of the day on a ten-yard run, helping Mizzou go up 21-10 at the half.
The Tigers allowed a score early in the third quarter to make it a one possession game, but a 72-yard touchdown run from Hardy and an interception and a touchdown return from Pride helped Mizzou make it a two score game heading into the fourth quarter.
The Tiger defense got another pick six against Mississippi State quarterback Blake Shapen, with Marvin Burks Jr. coming up with the turnover. Mizzou’s last score of the day came from a 43-yard touchdown carry from Hardy.
Zollers completed eight of 15 passes for 112 yards, with two touchdowns and a pick. Kevin Coleman Jr. was his leading receiver, with four catches for 41 yards. Hardy almost single-handedly out-gained the Bulldog offense, rushing for 300 yards on 25 carries. The Bulldogs finished with 345 yards of offense, compared to 438 for Mizzou.
Mizzou snaps a two-game losing streak and improves to 7-3 on the season. The Tigers will next face No. 11 Oklahoma, who recently defeated Alabama 23-21. Kickoff from OU Memorial Stadium will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 22.
