The Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education has directed Marshall Public Schools to adjust how their tax revenues are allocated.
The Board of Education approved the updated fund allocations at last week’s meeting, bringing the incidental fund rate to $2.75, in line with the state minimum, resulting in a reduction of the capital projects funds rate to $0.6194 cents. Supt Caleb Petet says while the state’s auditor’s office approved the total rate set by the board in August, DESE found the breakdown didn’t align with their requirements.
The updated split is a net decline of almost 30 cents from last year, after the district had their ceiling reduced by 46 cents following increased valuations.
Also last week, the board accepted the low bid to purchase a Kubota tractor. Petet said the bid from Marshall Service Company came in at $71,300, nearly $19,000 below the other two submitted bids.
The Marshall Board of Education also adopted the formal election call, with board filing for three seats taking place between Dec. 9 and 30 during regular business hours at the district’s offices at the Tom Butterfield Center on Route WW.
