A Smith-Cotton student has been recognized with the highest honor available for JROTC Cadets.
Smith-Cotton JROTC Cadet Austyn Fiorino is one of 25 recipients across the nation to earn the Legion of Valor Bronze Cross for Outstanding Achievement Award. Cadets are selected based on their academic record, class standing and leadership, among other criteria. The Sedalia School District 200 Board of Education recognized Fiorino’s achievement during its November 17th meeting. Superintendent Dr. Todd Fraley says the district is excited to highlight the honor.
Fiorino joins a long list of Smith-Cotton JROTC cadets to earn the honor, becoming the 16th cadet to do so. The other S-C cadets include Masyn Kruse, Draiven Short, Leia Goodwin, Brittany Bobbitt, Ericka Tackett, Laura Haney, Krysta Ott, Hannah Ott, Caitlyn Craig, Paul Chernookiy, Jordan Bush, Alexandria Stewart, Aurora Raphael, Shelbi Davis and Nikkole Warren.
