Keytesville R-III Schools Superintendent Will Perkins has announced his retirement from the position effective at the end of the school year.

Perkins made his announcement during this month’s Board of Education meeting. He says he was pleased to spend the past three years closer to home, capping a 31-year career that included 18 years leading the Atlanta R-II school district.

Perkins says an internal search is underway to identify candidates for his successor, with the goal to have a new hire announced in the next month.

Perkins lists passage of the district’s bond measure in April 2024 to fund facility improvements as one of his biggest accomplishments during his time in Keytesville. He says he plans to remain with the district in a part-time role to help with the completion of those projects.
