The Missouri Department of Transportation says work on the Route O bridge over Bee Creek will begin Dec. 1.

The bridge north of Salisbury is the latest bridge in Chariton County that will be replaced as part of MoDOT’s Northwest Bridge Bundle. The structure was built in 1956 and handles about 218 vehicles per day on average. The replacement bridge is expected to open in March. This latest project comes as two bridges along Route PP east of Salisbury are also closed for replacement, as is the Route K bridge south of Keytesville over Mussel Fork.

Meanwhile, MoDOT has announced a delay in the start of another bridge in the bundle. The Route 139 bridge over Parson Creek north of Meadville will now close Dec. 15, with the target completion date still March. The bridge was built in 1933 and handles about 140 vehicles per day.

All work is weather permitting. Additional details about the Northwest Bridge Bundle, including a progress tracker on each of the 31 bridges included in the design-build project, are available on MoDOT’s website.
