The Brunswick City Council is back to full strength following the selection of a new council member.

City clerk Sarah Clubine tells KMMO News that Tim Wheeler was selected by the council at their meeting Nov. 18 to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Roger Llewellyn. Also last week, the council approved a bid from A&A Heating and Cooling of Mendon to install a new heating system at the city barn, at a bid of $5400. Clubine notes that the city is still needing bids from electricians to rewire the facility.

Also last week, the city received word that they had successfully renewed their Tree City USA designation. Clubine says that will allow Brunswick to pursue a TRIM Grant from the Missouri Department of Conservation.

The Brunswick City Council also passed an updated animal ordinance, removing the list of dangerous breeds. Clubine says the new ordinance refines leash requirements, and updates the fine schedule. Clubine adds that the city has issued second warning letters to properties with nuisance issues amid the city’s efforts to deal with code violations. Lastly, the council met in special session Friday morning to approve the purchase of a small lot near the intersection of Broadway and Depot.

The Brunswick City Council will next meet Tuesday, Dec. 16.
