
A Boonville man is facing several felony charges after allegedly firing off shots in the area of Sixth Street and Locust Street on Monday, November 24.
According to the Boonville Police Department, officers were dispatched to the area at 11:24 a.m. to a report of shots being fired in the city. Upon arrival, officers made contact with the victim, who reported that Dorian Gardner pulled out a handgun and shot towards her one time. Gardner then fled the scene with the victim’s phone. The victim stated that she and Gardner had been arguing all morning and she was dropping him back off at his residence when the incident took place.
Police also noted that shots were fired within 100 yards of Laura Speed Elliott Middle School.
Authorities located Gardner in the area and placed him under arrest. Gardner was found to be in possession of a handgun matching the description given by the victim. During initial contact, Gardner denied involvement in the incident, but later admitted to firing the shot in the air and taking the victim’s cell phone. Gardner is also on probation and has several felony convictions.
Gardner has been charged with felonies for domestic assault in the first degree, armed criminal action, unlawful possession of a firearm, and endangering the welfare of a child. Surety bond was set at $200,000.
No court dates have been set at this time.
