The Marshall Municipal Utilities Board of Public Works approved a number of actions items during its meeting Wednesday morning, including a revised sewer use ordinance.

Upgrades to MMU’s aeration basins and treatment process at the Waste Water Treatment Plant necessitated a technical evaluation of its local limits, with MMU’s consultant, KimHEC, completing this review. In March, the Board of Public Works voted to submit the program updates to the Department of Natural Resources (DNR).

MMU’s pretreatment program modifications for local limit revisions and legal authority updates have been approved by DNR. The board voted to approved the revised sewer use ordinance and will request the Marshall City Council’s approval to adopt this revised ordinance during its meeting on Tuesday, December 2.

In other news from the meeting, the board approved a task order from Burns and McDonnell to update MMU’s Risk and Resilience Assessment and Emergency Response Plan for a cost of $33,000. The board then approved a motion to request proposals to treat five wells and pull two well pumps for inspection and repair.

The board also accepted a quote from Turbine Controls Consulting for the replacement of a voltage regulator for the Electric Production Department. The quote came in at $78,389.
