Marshall City Administrator JD Kehrman says the city is seeing increased response to code citations following a change in how violations are addressed.
Kehrman tells KMMO News that following the move to have Marshall Police write code violation citations and refer cases to the city attorney, more property owners have been in contact with city staff about those citations.
At last week’s city council meeting, Kehrman mentioned one property that had seen significant progress in recent months.
Code enforcement was moved to Marshall Police after the city let go of code enforcement manager Sherrie Norman and inspector Aaron Gibson. Norman filed suit against the City of Marshall in October, alleging wrongful termination.
