Monday, Dec. 1 is the first day that lawmakers can prefile legislation for the second regular session of the 103rd General Assembly, and superintendents across Missouri are keeping their eyes peeled for measures that could impact how their districts are funded.

Santa Fe R-X Superintendent Derek Lark provided an update to his district’s board of education at their meeting Nov. 20 while addressing the district’s reserve balance.
.

Lark, who recently served as a regional president for the Missouri Association of School Administrators, encourages his district’s patrons to also pay attention to legislation that lawmakers will consider when they’re back in session this January. He also encourages residents to make their voices heard.

Lark says Santa Fe will host a roundtable of area superintendents this December with Marshall Senator Kurtis Gregory and Moberly Representative Ed Lewis, who is chair of the House Elementary and Secondary Education Committee.
