The Marshall Public Schools Instrumental Music Department will perform its annual Winter Concert in the Jim Hargrave Gymnasium at Marshall High School at 7 p.m. Thursday, December 11th.

The groups featured on the concert will include the Marshall High School (MHS) Orchestra, MHS Concert Band, and Bueker Middle School (BMS) 6th Grade Band. The concert will conclude with the tradition of the combined High School Band and Orchestra performance. Musical selections to be performed will include pieces from composers David Holsinger, Robert W. Smith, Eric Whitacre, Soon Hee Newbold, Nikolay Rimsky-Korsakoff, Henry John Gauntlett, and many others.

The concert will also recognize high school students from both the band and orchestra who recently had the opportunity to audition for membership in the prestigious West-Central Missouri All District large ensembles. To earn a highly sought after spot in one of these ensembles, each student prepared an exhaustive audition package of material to be performed for a panel of judges. Twelve members of the Marshall High School Band earned All-District distinction, while fourteen members of the Marshall High School Orchestra earned All-District Distinction.

There is no admission for the event, it is free and open to the public.
