At least seven nations will need to bring their A game to Arrowhead Stadium next summer for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, including the defending champions Argentina.

Over the weekend, tournament organizers drew the seeds for next summer’s 48-team tournament, then finalized their schedules for the group stage.  Argentina will begin their defense of the Jules Rimet Trophy in Kansas City on June 16 at 8 p.m., when they face Algeria to open play in Group J. The Fennecs of Algeria will get a second helping of burnt ends when they return to Arrowhead for their third and final group stage match, taking on Austria on June 27 at 9 p.m.

Kansas City will also welcome Curaçao, one of four first-time participants, when the Caribbean country of just 155,000 people face Ecuador on June 20 at 7 p.m. in a Group E contest. The Group F decider on June 25 at 6 p.m. will see three-time runners-up Netherlands take on Tunisia.

Arrowhead Stadium will also host two knockout round contests. The round of 32 contest on July 3 at 8:30 p.m. will feature a third-place team seeking to upset the winner of Group K, which could be Portugal, Colombia, or another first-time participant, Uzbekistan. The winner of that game could find themselves back in Kansas City on July 11 at 8 p.m. for the fourth and final quarterfinal.

As for Team USA, their group stage contests will begin July 12 at 6 p.m. in Los Angeles against Paraguay, then continue June 19 at noon in Seattle against Australia. Their final group stage match is June 25 at 7 p.m. back in LA against either Kosovo, Romania, Slovakia, or Türkiye. Team USA could end up at Arrowhead if they finish second or third in Group D.
