A member of Sedalia’s Scouting America Troop 61 is one step closer to earning the rank of Eagle Scout after presenting his project at the Monday, Dec. 1 Sedalia City Council meeting.

Jack Frederick presented three boxes intended to receive and store flags that are no longer suitable for flying. City administrator Matthew Wirt says the city looks forward to putting Frederick’s project to use.

Wirt says the city is happy to recognize youth like Frederick who are making a positive impact on their community.

Frederick is a senior at Smith-Cotton High School. The dropboxes will be installed in the lobbies of the Sedalia Police Department and both locations of the Sedalia Fire Department.
