The Norborne R-VIII Board of Education approved a change order Monday, Dec. 8 for the roof set to go over the new front entrance to the district’s building.

Supt. Jennifer Courtney tells KMMO News that the change order will allow contractors to better mesh the roof over the new building with the current roof. Courtney says the change order was a difference of $30,000.

Also Monday night, the board approved renewing their liability and property insurance with the Missouri United School Insurance Consortium (MUSIC) for 2026. Courtney noted that the district will see an 8.5 percent increase, partially because of a valuation increase with the construction of a new kitchen over the summer. The board approved closing a bond account and contracting with ProCare Therapy to have a behavioral technician work on campus to address student needs.

The board also heard an update on Norborne’s annual performance report, which Courtney described as “very good” at 77 percent. She noted perfect scores for career readiness and student attendance, along with strong achievement scores. However, Courtney added that the district will need to make improvements to their growth scores.
