The Odessa Board of Aldermen reviewed a proposed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and easement with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers regarding land owned by the City during its meeting on Monday, December 8.
City Administrator Shawna Davis says the easement is regarding a parcel of land Odessa owns near the Missouri River. Davis says the city gets its water from wells located on this land.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is acquiring additional land surrounding Odessa’s parcel and even proposed purchasing the City’s portion. The Board of Aldermen instead settled on an easement to allow access to the property. Davis said the board reviewed the MOU Monday night, but decided to table it to add additional language to protect the city.
In other news, the board approved a motion to establish a part-time Public Information Coordinator position.
The board’s next meeting is Monday, December 22.
