Students at the Meadville R-IV School and their families are enjoying an early holiday gift from the district: no charge for school meals during the month of December.

Supt. Jeff Haley says the board approved waiving meal prices for this month as a way to support the district’s families.

Meadville is celebrating Homecoming this weekend and will break for Christmas on Dec. 19. When classes resume Jan. 6, students and staff are expected to have a refinished parking lot on the north part of campus to use, funded by passage of last August’s $1.2 million Proposition CARES.

The bond project will also update Meadville’s bus pick-up and drop-off location, and install playground equipment on the district’s former tennis courts. A separate project was approved Wednesday by the Meadville Board of Education when they authorized Haley to seek bids for the sanding and refinishing of the district’s gym floor this summer. Haley says he expects to present bids to the board at their next meeting Jan. 14.
