
Harold E. “Mose” Morton, 91, of rural Nelson, formerly of Slater, died Saturday, December 13, 2025 at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia.
Graveside services will be Thursday, December 18, 2025 at 2:00 P.M. at Slater City Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Pallbearers will be Mike Venable, Rodger Pycke, David Cano, Willie Bryson, and Danny Bryson. Memorials are suggested to the Slater City Cemetery in care of Weiker Funeral Home.
Born September 27, 1934 near New Frankfort, he was the son of the late Amos and Nannie Fizer Morton.
He is survived by two sons, Harold Morton of Blackwater, and Randy Morton and his wife Angie of Nelson, six grandchildren, Kelsey Chamberlain (Chris), Kayla Foster (Austin), Kendra Dann (Andrew), Amanda Twenter (Shane), Allison McMullen (Lucas), and Richelle Morton; fifteen great-grandchildren, Ashlyn, Jack, Cole, Wyatt, Avery, Kaidyn, Memphis, Jolene, June, Ryder, Scarlet, Cora, Quinley, Bentley, and Elliott; a brother, A.C. Morton of Slater; and a sister, Mildred Bryson of Slater. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Edward Morton, Kenneth Morton, George Morton, and Curtis Morton; and three sisters, Lucille Durham, Mary Bryson, and Betty Martin; and a great-granddaughter, Brieanna Foster.
Mr. Morton had worked for Blakemore & Douglas Trucking and Taylor Concrete for many years. He later did hauling for Mike Venable. He was a lifelong Saline County resident.
