The Brunswick City Council heard updates Tuesday, Dec. 16 on efforts to buy two properties containing potentially dangerous structures.

City Clerk Sarah Clubine tells KMMO News that the city is preparing to close on one of the two parcels while continuing negotiations on the other. Both lots contain homes that the city may need to demolish. Also Tuesday night, the council tabled consideration of contracts for a home inspector until the city could secure more bids for those services.

In other action, the council appointed Kayla Elliott to the Brunswick Housing Authority Board of Directors. Clubine also reported that the city’s project to upgrade the sewer system is progressing ahead of schedule, with the target completion date still in March.

The Brunswick City Council will next meet Jan. 20.
