A new member was appointed to the Brookfield R-3 School District Board of Education during its meeting last week.

The board unanimously appointed Luke Montgomery to the board on December 16th to fill the vacancy left after Ryan Burns resigned to become the district’s next bookkeeper. Montgomery will need to file in December 2026 to run for the final one year of the term in April of 2027.

In other news, the board approved the 2025D MSBA Policy updates and accepted the 2024-25 audit from John Gillum, CPA.

It was also announced that Board President Blake DeVoy has signed all of the necessary documents from LJ Hart to move forward on the Proposition 2 ballot issue in April. The district is asking voters to approve a $4.2 million bond measure for the purpose of replacing and upgrading Brookfield’s track and field facility, as well as HVAC systems, student lockers, and improvements to the elementary school playground.
