A Jefferson City man who practiced medicine in Pettis County is facing domestic assault charges in Boone County.
Court documents accuse 46-year-old Jeffrey L Teeter of assaulting his spouse early Tuesday, Dec. 23 at a home in Ashland, about 12 miles south of Columbia. According to the probable cause statement, the victim says that Teeter had been arguing with her throughout the night, then slapped her multiple times, punched her in the head, and pointed a pistol at her after firing several shots out of a window. She says Teeter then forced himself on her and put his hand over her nose and mouth, causing her to have difficulty breathing. Authorities say they recovered a gun and shell casings at the crime scene, and obtained audio recordings of the incident.
Deputies noted in their statement that Teeter is an emergency room physician at a Sedalia hospital. He’s in a Boone County jail, charged with first-degree domestic assault, sodomy, armed criminal action, and unlawful use of a weapon. No court date has been set at this time, and prosecutors are requesting that Teeter remain held without bond.
