A Gilliam man was arrested early Christmas morning inside the Saline County school he’s accused of breaking into.
Court records indicate that 31-year-old Jacob Forrester is facing two felony burglary charges and a misdemeanor charge of property damage. He’s accused of breaking into a school building along Route D on Wednesday, Dec. 24, using a decorative brick to smash a window and gain access. A probable cause statement from the Saline County Sheriff’s Office suggests that Forrester then exited the building and entered a school bus, activating its turn signal. Deputies say Forrester left inside the bus the keys to a truck that deputies had discovered crashed along Route D. Two school employees who were cleaning up the damage say they spotted Forrester re-entering the building twice, and deputies were able to apprehend Forrester at the school around 2:45 a.m. on Christmas.
Forrester has posted ten-thousand dollars bond. An arraignment date for him is pending.
