Residents who haven’t yet payed their Real Estate or Personal Property taxes for 2025 only have a few more days left to do so, with Wednesday’s deadline fast approaching.

2025 Tax Bills were mailed out to citizens earlier in the month and must be payed by Wednesday, December 31st to avoid any penalties. Pettis County Collector Marsha Boeschen explains that there is a significant penalty for missing the December deadline.

Residents can pay their tax bills in person by visiting their County Collector’s Office, online at links provided with their tax bills, or at drop boxes located at their county’s courthouse. Boeschen also says there is an option for residents to pay over the phone.

Tax payments sent by mail must be postmarked no later than December 31, 2025 to be considered on time. Saline County Collector Cindi Sims reminds the public to confirm their mail will receive a December 2025 postmark before dropping off their payment at the post office. Postmarks dated January 1st or later are considered late pursuant to Missouri Statute 139.100. Tax payers should also be aware of a new USPS policy change that changes how postmarking works. The new policy means your mail could be dated later at a sorting center, and not right when you drop it in the mailbox.

Anyone with questions about tax payments should contact their County Collector’s Office for more information.
