Efforts to increase use of the Marshall Memorial Municipal Airport could include the installation of a new hangar.

At least one council member is open to the idea of building an additional structure at the airport that could house a mechanic’s shop. First ward councilman Drew Green discussed the idea during a meeting of the Municipal Services Committee earlier this month. He tells KMMO News that Marshall has an opportunity to build on its role in aviation history.

Green says demand for the services of aviation mechanics are growing in the region, citing increased activity at Warsaw’s airport. The Marshall Municipal Airport is nearing completion of a project to rehabilitate one of its taxiways, and is exploring a project to improve the lighting of its two runways.
