
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports ten people died in traffic crashes during this year’s Christmas holiday counting period from Wednesday, December 24, through Sunday, December 28. There were no boating crashes or drownings.
During the counting period, troopers report 258 crashes, 94 injuries, ten fatalities, and 93 DWI arrests.
These numbers are up from 2024, where troopers investigated 81 traffic crashes, which included four fatalities and 44 injuries. Statewide, five people died and 133 people were injured in 295 traffic crashes over last year’s Christmas holiday. Troopers arrested 18 people for driving while intoxicated during the 2024 Christmas holiday counting period. The Patrol does note that Christmas Day fell on a Wednesday in 2024, making the holiday period 1.25 days.
There were zero boating crashes, zero boating fatalities, zero drowning, and zero boating while intoxicated arrests during the 2025 Christmas holiday counting period.
